Hey, here's an interesting thing I have to say and would appreciate it if you paid attention.?

I'm working on different strategies to get people to click on my
questions. How'd this one work? OK?

Anyways, the interesting thing I have to say is about "getting" or
"understanding" music. Do you think that some people understand the
genius of certain things and others don't? Or do you think musical
taste is all based on preference. Like... you wouldn't tell someone
who doesn't like broccoli that they just don't understand the genius
and the wonder that is broccoli. Tee hee hee.

I'm interested in your opinions. And I guess it is possible to "get"
something but not necessarily like it. For instance, I can somewhat
understand people not LIKING Radiohead, but I can't understand people
who don't at least APPRECIATE Radiohead a little. Am I making sense
right now? I'm sleep deprived and moody.

Another thing, somewhat related to this interesting thing I had to
say, is when I went to see Sonic Youth last October. I love Sonic
Youth more than life itself, but the warm-up act was a band called
Caldera Lakes that I did not care for... at all. It was comprised of
two young lasses who essentially knelt on a rug, made percussive
noises and wailed. Do I just not "get" Caldera Lakes? Is there
something more that I'm missing. The person I was at the concert with
said something interesting: "I think people just off the street would
come in here and think this is crap. And then I think there are a
level of pretentious people who think they really get it. And then I
think there's ANOTHER level above that of just realizing that this is
crap." Tee hee hee. But what does it even MEAN to "get" something?
Does it make you smarter or just more hoity toity? Are Caldera Lakes
fans more enlightened than I?!?

Anyways, if you have a response to any of the words or phrases I just
spewed at you, please share!
